What I have read and use for reference:

The Classic beers of Belgium
by Christian Deglas
ISBN 1887167013

This book is informative and concise.

Great Beers of Belgium
by, Michael Jackson any edition a classic within itself from a late great man of beer.

Classic Beer Styles Series
#3 Lambic
by, Jean-Xavier Guinard, my past professor and one of the great sensory scientists of the world.
ISBN 0937381225

#6 Belgian Ale
by, Pierre Rajotte
ISBN 0937381314

All Belgian Beers
by, Hilde Deweer
I recommend it as I have read segments but I do not own it-yet.
http://www.amazon.com/review/product/9058562425/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?%5Fencoding=UTF8&showViewpoints=1

Books that I own but have not read. (I do not know why.)

farmhouse Ales
by, Phil Markowski
ISBN 13: 9780937381847

It is specific to small brewers of an artistic style. But as explained in his book not a strict style. Some brewing recipes are included.

brew like a Monk
by, Stan Hieronymus
ISBN 093738187X
Very good and similar in layout to the above book but specific to "Monk" brews.

Wild Brews
by, Jeff Sparrow
ISBN 13: 9780937381861
Basically about Lambics and its subset styles.

I'll second Michael Jackson and Garrett Oliver. Check out Garrett Oliver's "The Brewmaster's Table" It is one of my favourites.

Oh, and while we are talking about Michael Jackson, don't forget about the nationwide toast to Michael Jackson that will take place on September 30th at 9PM. If you can not make it to a participating Pub near you, toast him on your own at that date and time and consider making a small donation to the NPF with "Tribute to Michael Jackson" in the subject line. We (beer lovers) owe him a lot! Plus the proceeds from the toast will go to benefit the NPF (National Parkinson Foundation)

Brewer/author Greg Noonan passed away
October 13th, 2009

It’s all over the beer blogs that brewing pioneer and author Greg Noonan passed away this last weekend. He opened the first brewpub in Vermont, the Vermont Pub & Brewery, and authored, among other books, the seminal Brewing Lager Beer (the 1986 edition I have on my bookshelf but haven’t read yet).http://www.thebrewsite.com/2009/10/13/br…

He was a great guy of beer. I met him once years back and had a great albeit short conversation over a beer.
